CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

Wyandot Middle School students were sent home with a letter from the principal alerting parents of the death of Andrew Wesley, a seventh grade social studies teacher who kids say was everyone's favorite.

"We really didn't do much. Pretty much just talked about him in all of our classes," said Alex Mackmin. "Everybody was pretty sad."

"He was a great teacher. He was really funny."

Wesley died unexpectedly on Sunday. He collapsed after returning home from a bike ride earlier in the day.

The Macomb County medical examiner said Wesley's cause of death was inconclusive, and toxicology results will take six weeks to complete.

In a letter to the media, Chippewa Valley Schools praised Wesley for his creativity and innovative lessons.

Guidance counselors will be available at the school as long as they are needed, and parents are encouraged to look for signs of grief in their children.
