Marblehead man sentenced for head-butting MBTA bus driver
BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – A Marblehead man was sentenced to three months in a house of correction for head-butting an MBTA bus driver in July 2012.
John Kerivan, 49, pleaded guilty to assault and battery on a public employee Monday.
According to prosecution, Kerivan struck the driver on board a bus as it picked up passengers at Wonderland Station in Revere at about 10 p.m. on July 23, 2012.
Kerivan allegedly began screaming at the driver as soon as he boarded the bus. When the bus driver tried to calm him, Kerivan head-butted him, knocking the driver off balance and disorienting him, the prosecution said.
Kerivan was taken into custody a short time after the incident by MBTA Transit Police.
The driver was treated at Massachusetts General Hospital and released a day later.
