HYANNIS, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A 60-year-old limousine driver from Hyannis is accused of stealing $100,000 worth of jewelry and other luggage from a family he drove over the weekend.
Barnstable police say a young couple and their two children flew into Hyannis via private jet from Florida Sunday. Upon their arrival, the family was helped to two limousines by the pilots and airport personnel.
The mother and two children took one limo to the family's home in Osterville, while the father took another limo to a dog sitter's home where he left the family's two pets. Both limos dropped the family and their luggage off at the home.
About two hours after their arrival, the family realized several pieces of luggage were missing, including a bag full of expensive jewelry.
Police investigated everyone who came into contact with the bags and eventually named one of the limo drivers, Bruce Brown, as their suspect. They say Brown confessed to stealing the luggage and jewelry Tuesday. He reportedly led investigators to a dumpster in Hyannis where the luggage was recovered.
Brown was arraigned Wednesday on larceny of property over $250 charges. He was released on personal recognizance.
