METHUEN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Three young men are in serious condition following a brutal beating in Methuen.
Police said the fight started inside the McDonald's on Route 110 at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday and then spilled out into the parking lot.
The victims, who are in their early 20s, were attacked by a group of people armed with a metal pipe and a knife.
Authorities said one victim has a serious head injury, while another victim had a chest wound. The third had a puncture wound to a bicep. Methuen's police chief told FOX 25 one of the victims was unconscious when they arrived at the scene.
Five of the alleged attackers are being held by police and are expected to be arraigned Thursday in Lawrence District Court. Omarlin Padilla and Rubin Caba, both 18, are charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Rafael Buli, 19, who police said used a knife in the attack, is facing two counts of armed assault with intent to murder. Two 16-year-olds are also under arrest. Their names aren't being released.
Earlier Thursday morning, police said they could be looking for up to nine suspects.
Investigators are still on the scene.
