BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Lawyers for reputed mob boss James "Whitey" Bulger are trying to tear down a key government witness, former hitman and Bulger associate John Martorano.
Bulger's team claims they received information that Martorano has continued criminal activity since his 2007 release from federal prison.
Martorano admitted his involvement in over 20 murders, but cut a deal with the feds for his information, thus leading to his release.
The defense also contends that Martorano's State Police handlers may have been "shielding him" from investigations into his criminal conduct. They're asking for any information about possible crimes he may have been involved in since his release.
