*The Weather

Nice beach weather will continue through the weekend and NO rain is expected. An onshore flow and marine layer will produce some fog and low clouds during the morning hours but afternoons should be sunny and mild with a pleasant sea breeze.

High Temperatures on the sand: Saturday 70  Sunday 70

Winds will be mostly calm in the mornings and then turn onshore (WSW onshore 8-15 mph) by noon.

*The Surf:

A combination of swells out of the Southern Hemisphere should produce solid surf through the weekend. Saturday will see waves in the 3-5'+ range. Some sets could reach 6-7'. The swells should linger into Sunday but drop off slightly into the 2-4'+ surf. The largest waves and best surf will be on south and southwest facing beaches. Beach breaks will be lined up so your best bet is a point or jetty.

A BEACH HAZARDS statement has been issued by the National Weather Service due the swell and rip current potential. Read it here .

*Always swim and surf near a lifeguard!

Here are the latest water temperature reports: Zuma 66, Hermosa 74, Cabrillo 62, Huntington 66, San Clemente 71

*The Rip Current:

Break the grip of the RIP! Our beaches are prone to rip tides. If you get caught in one, do NOT panic! Swim PARALLEL to the coast OUT of the current. Try and get attention from lifeguards if you need help. Most importantly, ALWAYS swim near a manned life guard lower. He or she will alert you to rip currents and tell you where it is safe to swim. Check out the images to the left  and the video for more rip current safety.

*The Water Quality:

Heal the Bay released their annual BUMMER SUMMER Beach Report Card before the Memorial Day Weekend and the news is mostly good! The complete Heal the Bay Beach Report Card can be found here.

Have a SAFE weekend everyone and don't forget to check my forecasts for the latest conditions at the coast every Monday through Friday morning starting at 4:30am on FOX 11 or right here on myfoxla.com

**WE STILL WANT YOUR BEACH PICTURES! Please email me a shot of yourself or your family enjoying the shore. I will show them on-air during my morning weather reports. Please include everyone's names and the beach locations. Surf shots are welcome too!
