CHATHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A great white shark tagged by biologists in 2011 has returned to the waters off Chatham.
Officials say the 13-foot female shark was detected near Monomoy Island on May 28. The shark also returned to the area in 2012.
Sharks have been attracted to Chatham's waters due to its growing population of gray seals.
Experts say the shark's detection serves as a reminder to swimmers and boaters to remain vigilant. Swimmers are advised not to enter the water at dawn and dusk, stay close to shore, and avoid areas where seals are resting.
