Rain causes roof to collapse on building in Dorchester

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The roof of a Dorchester building collapsed Saturday morning after torrential rains walloped most of the state overnight.

The American Red Cross tells FOX 25 they responded to the 6-unit building located at 5 Edwin Street. They were told the ceiling collapsed as the result of the rain.

Red Cross volunteers handed out food and water to 11 residents at the Dorchester building. There is no word on the extent of the damage.

Most of Mass. remained under a flood watch through Saturday morning after Tropical Storm Andrea pushed north, bringing heavy rain to the region.

The storm moved out by 10 a.m. Saturday.
