Movie set shuts down traffic in Bartow County

BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. -

Filming for a new "Need to Speed" movie brought traffic to a standstill on Interstate 75 in Bartow County on Wednesday.

The movie stars Aaron Paul of the popular TV show "Breaking Bad." He seemed caught off guard by Georgia's oppressive summer heat wave.

Film notes say "Need for Speed" revolves around  Paul's character, a street racer framed by a wealthy business man. Fresh out of prison, he takes a Shelby Cobra Mustang on a cross-country race with revenge in mind.

Emerson police helped handled traffic duties as crews shut down area roads, including the on-ramp of Red Top Mountain Road and a large section of I-75 in both directions.

The film crew has also shot scenes around Macon and Rome.

Some resident were thrilled to see the film stars in their town. Scott Waugh directs the cast, which also includes Imogen Poots.

A crew member said they'll be wrapping up in the Bartow County area in the next couple of days.
