Local Non-Profit Delivers 10 Millionth Free Meal

Posted: Updated:

A milestone for a local non-profit.

MANNA celebrated delivering its 10-millionth meal, at its kitchen in Center City.

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and Camden Mayor Dana Redd were both on hand for the occasion.

MANNA prepares and delivers healthy meals to people with life-threatening illnesses.

MANNA was founded in 1990 by seven members of the First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. This mission was to help comfort people dying of AIDS. In 2006, MANNA expanded its outreach to neighbors with other critical illnesses – cancer, renal and cardiac disease and diabetes.

According to the organization, each month they deliver 65,000 meals to those who struggle with serious diseases.
