BINGHAM FARMS, Mich. (WJBK) -

Got a nice suit that no longer fits? Updating your wardrobe maybe? Jackets for Jobs is teaming up with the Farbman Group. They need your donations.

"Over the next five days, we're hoping to collect over 1,000 men's and women's suits to provide to those seeking work," said Jonathon Margolis from The Farbman Group.

"We just celebrated our 13th anniversary, so we have assisted over 14,000 people in the Detroit community," said Jackets for Jobs founder Alison Vaughn.

She said it is not just giving someone
something to wear to a job interview.

"People come to Jackets for Jobs to do employment training. We do etiquette skills, as well as providing them with an outfit so they can go out and seek employment," she explained. "Once they receive employment, they can come back and receive two more free outfits."

Success stories aplenty all from the look and confidence a donated men's or women's suit can instill.

"We had another girl that was abused by her boyfriend. They were living in a car, and she came to us. We helped her get back on her feet, and now she's working, and Glamour magazine even did a story on her," Vaughn said.

Drop-off locations are as follows:

  • Bingham Office Center at Telegraph and 13 Mile in Bingham Farms
  • Fisher and New Center One buildings on West Grand Boulevard in Detroit
  • Sheffield Office Park at the corner of Big Beaver and Coolidge in Troy
  • Southfield Center at Nine Mile and the Lodge

Remember nice, clean suits on hangers, please. No powder blue tuxedos.

Right now the baseball diamond at the old Tiger Stadium is being used by little leaguers and even some vintage baseball teams. But that could change, even before this season is over.

This is the kind of place film director Quentin Tarantino might have worked had he grown up in metro Detroit.  He did visit the Thomas Video and DVD store in Royal Oak once.
