Tucker Cipriano's former best friend testifies at Mitchell Young's trial

PONTIAC, Mich. (WJBK) -

Thursday marked day two of the trial for 21-year-old Mitchell Young, the alleged accomplice of Tucker Cipriano. The pair are accused of savagely attacking the Cipriano family in Farmington Hills last April.

Ian Zinderman took the stand where he said, "I am extremely afraid of Tucker. He said whoever rats him out he will find, and he has implied that he has people on the outside."

Zinderman was Cipriano's best friend and an accessory after the fact. He received immunity for his testimony detailing the murder plot.

"Young was supposed to take the parents, and Cipriano was going to take his brothers," Zinderman testified. "Young wanted to take the sister, like to kill the sister."

The three would split $3,000 worth of cash and valuables from the Cipriano home, then steal the Ciprianos' car and drive it to Mexico to sell it.

"They wanted me to either help with disposing of the bodies or drive the getaway car," Zinderman said. "They wanted to throw them in the Detroit River and weigh them down by some barrels."

The prosecution showed pictures of the Cipriano home after the attack and bloody clothes allegedly ditched by Young and Cipriano. Mitchell Young barely looked at the pictures or showed any emotion at all.

Zinderman was arrested just as he was about to ditch Young's truck and toss the knife tucked under the seat. He later learned Bob Cipriano was beaten to death with a baseball bat. Rose and 17-year-old Sal Cipriano were brutally beaten as well, while eight-year-old Isabella and Sal's twin brother, Tanner, hid in closets. Cipriano and Young were allegedly high on K2 at the time.

"Part of me thought that they were going to do whatever they said they were going to do, but another part of me did not want to believe it, didn't believe it. My best friend, he's not going to do that," Zinderman testified.

Late in the day another one of Tucker Cipriano's friends took the stand. He testified that he saw Cipriano and Young right after the murder. He said he was disturbed by that encounter, so he told police what he saw.

The trial will continue on Friday.
