Illinois residents impacted by flood must apply for aid by Friday

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Friday is the last day to apply for flooding assistance through the Illinois Department of Human Services. Lines began to form overnight on the South Side, as people made sure to beat the afternoon deadline.

The spring floods left an incredible number of homes water-logged with severe damage to property and belongings. Residents were surprised by the extent of the damage in April, as that volume of rain has not hit the Chicago area in quite some time.

Designated state offices are located across the city. FOX 32 News spoke with residents lined up near 119th and Halsted. If home owners want to take advantage of the so-called "disaster snap" funds, they must apply by 1 p.m. on Friday.

Applicants will need verified photo identification and proof of your expenses.
