Falling tree limbs struck and killed a landscaper and also hurt a police officer who was trying to help the fatally wounded man on Long Island on Friday, police said.
The 53-year-old landscaper was working at a home on Ironwood Road in Muttontown when a tree fell on him at about noon, police said. A Muttontown cop was helping extract the man from under the tree when another tree limb fell on his head, police said.
Medics rushed the landscaper and the officer to Syosset Hospital.
The landscaper was pronounced dead. The hospital treated the cop for abrasions.
