Bergeron listed as day-to-day, misses morning skate

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (AP) - Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron is listed as day-to-day, coach Claude Julien said Sunday.

"I don't know if he'll skate tomorrow. He may. I'm trying to be as clear as I can," said Julien at a press conference Sunday afternoon.

Asked if it was an upper or lower body injury, Julien said, "body."

Bergeron was injured in the second period of Saturday night's 3-1 loss to the Blackhawks in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals. He was taken from the United Center by ambulance and was discharged from a Chicago hospital. He flew home with the team Sunday morning.

Reports on Sunday suggested that Bergeron did not suffer a spleen injury because he would not have been able to fly back to Boston.

He was seen walking to his car from the team bus without crutches but did appear to keep his upper body stiff as he got into the vehicle.

Hockey insider James Murphy, citing a source, told FOX 25's Brendan Fitzgerald that there is a good chance Bergeron could be in the lineup for Game 6 in Boston Monday. He missed the team's morning skate Monday.
