PLYMOUTH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A Taunton man has been charged in connection with a shooting that occurred on Forest Avenue in Plymouth Sunday night.

Police received a call reporting people in the streets with guns in the area of 3 Forest Ave. at about 8:06 p.m., reports the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office.

Upon arrival, police found a 2006 Ford van traveling east on Forest Avenue and stopped the car at the intersection of Forest Avenue and Court Street.

Witnesses told police when the car came to a stop, the right rear passenger, later identified as 21-year-old Trevor Wood, exited the car wearing a bandana on his face and carrying a gun.

Officers allegedly ordered Wood to drop his weapon, but he did not comply and an officer shot the suspect. Wood was taken via helicopter to a Boston area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Wood has been charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder and one count unlawful possession of a firearm. His arraignment date has not yet been set.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Plymouth Police Dept. at 508-947-8087.
