PONTIAC, Mich. (WJBK) -

Closing arguments were given Thursday in Mitchell Young's murder trial. The prosecution rested without calling any of the Cipriano family to stand, the only actually witnesses to the crime. All the while, the defense tried to make the jury believe Young was just another one of Tucker Cipriano's victims.

Young choose not to take the stand in his own defense. The 21-year-old is facing life in prison without parole.

Young and his friend, Tucker Cipriano, are accused of killing Tucker's father, Robert, and attacking the Cipriano family in a brutal robbery while high on K2.

One last time before deliberating, the jury poured over text messages confirming drug use and reviewed horrendous pictures of Robert Cipriano's busted skull and lifeless body after the attack.

Tucker's 17-year-old brother Sal and mother Rose were also viciously beaten.

The Cipriano family couldn't look at the photos, instead crying and cringing. Young never looked at the pictures either, instead making notes of his own, which turned out to be a message to his ex-girlfriend.

Kristen Spaw broke up with Young three weeks before the attack. She said Tucker Cipriano was a bad influence.

"He was hanging around Tucker, and I didn't like that, and I knew something was going to go wrong because Tucker was a trouble maker," she said.

Young wiped away tears when he read the note Spaw wrote back to him. He showed more emotion in court Thursday than ever before looking every member of the jury in the eye and taking a longing look at his grandmother.

"Life in prison is probably what he's going to get," Spaw said. "That little girl is never going to have a father to walk her down the aisle. Sal might never recover."

"Tucker deserves what he's getting."

Now the jury will decide what Mitchell Young deserves.
