CANTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A 24-year-old Stoughton man has been indicted by a Norfolk County Grand Jury in crash that killed his ex-girlfriend, a junior at Curry College.

The indictments that were handed up Thursday charge Sean Jackman with motor vehicle homicide and manslaughter by motor vehicle.

Investigators claim Jackman was traveling on the westbound side of Bolivar Street in Canton when he hit a wall and then a tree. The passenger in the car, 20-year-old Evan Bard, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Jackman was transported to the hospital with head injuries.

According to friends, they had been driving home from a wedding at the time of the crash.

Evan Bard, an Agawam native, was a cheerleader and nursing major at Curry.

Prosecutors said Jackman had been an intern at the Norfolk District Attorney's office and his father was employed there. Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey requested that Suffolk County prosecutors handle Jackman's case to avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest.

Jackman will be arraigned at a later date in Norfolk Superior Court. He faces five to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $25,000, and a possible lifetime revocation of his driver's license if convicted.
