DETROIT (WJBK) -

A body was discovered Wednesday on Hickory Street on Detroit's northeast side. Sources told us the victim was set on fire.

Police have been investigating, questioning people and trying to figure out exactly what happened.

Around 2 p.m., police received a call that there was a body burning near a vacant home. Police and firefighters quickly responded.

Neighbors said they heard gunshots around 4 a.m. Wednesday, but they were too scared to come outside and see what had happened. There is suspicion that the victim may have been connected with the shooting.

One neighbor said the streetlights have not been working for a couple of weeks, so she wasn't able to see anything early Wednesday morning.

Police are not releasing any official information at this point.
