Henry County police say a 14-year-old girl was killed and five other members of the same family -- including two infants -- were injured in an accident on Interstate 75 on Thursday.

According to Sgt. Joey Smith of the Henry County Police Department, about 11:30 a.m., a Ford Expedition lost struck and struck the center guardrail and then began to spin back into traffic. Five of 7 passengers were ejected from the vehicle. Smith said that preliminary investigation shows that they were not properly restrained.  The vehicle struck another vehicle.

Victoria Goldware, 14, of McDonough, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 4-year-old girl suffered multiple fractures after being ejected. Twin 2-month-old children suffered severe head injuries. All of the children are being treated at Children's Healthcare at Egleston, police said.

A 16-year-old female is being treated at Grady with serious injuries. A 30-year-old female passenger is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Atlanta Medical Center, according to police.

Henry County investigators say the driver and the injured people are all related.

The driver, a 19-year-old woman, was not injured. The crash is under investigation, but police believe speed and weather played a role.

Charges are pending against the driver, according to authorities.

Police are asking travelers with information about the accident to call 770-288-8200.
