Vigil Held For Child Who Drowned In Pennypack Creek

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

We're waiting on word from the medical examiner on whether a body pulled from Pennypack Creek is a missing 13-year-old boy.

Police recovered a body from the creek early Thursday, where Brandon Boyle disappeared while swimming Monday. But they won't confirm it's the missing teen.

The boy's family and friends gathered for an emotional vigil along the creek Thursday night to honor the missing teen.

Brandon was swimming with his brother and friends when he was swept away by rain-swollen waters in Pennypack Creek.

His brother was rescued.

Their mother spoke at the vigil.

"I just want to thank each and every person that's come out here since Monday for my boy, my boy who was gonna be 14 in two weeks, the tearful mother said."

The kids were jumping from a bridge into the creek last Monday when Brandon was lost.
