WEST YARMOUTH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Vermont man is facing attempted murder charges after police say he attempted to kill a woman and her young son at a hotel on Cape Cod.

Gregory Willis, 34, of Newport, VT, was arrested just after 1 a.m. Friday after police responded to the Econo Lodge in West Yarmouth on reports of a woman screaming.

Investigators allege Willis tried to sexually assault and kill a woman acquaintance. They claim Willis tried to strangle the woman and throw her off a second floor balcony.

The 34-year-old is also accused of trying to strangle the woman's son.

Willis was arraigned Friday morning on charges that included attempted murder and assault to rape.
