Female 'Viagra' In Development, Shows Surprises

Posted: Updated:

Lybrido, the world's first female arousal drug, could come on the market as early as 2016.

The drug will treat women with low sex drive by increasing both sexual motivation and physiological sexual response.

Clinical tests so far have already shown some surprises that differentiate Lybrido from its male counterparts.

For example, participants who took Lybrido (all in long-term monogamous relationships) seemed to show less desire to cheat on their partners.

The drug is currently in phase 2B clinical testing stage, which means that it will be given to a bigger test population to determine safety.

Lybrido's creator is Adriaan Tuiten who started designing the drug after his long-term girlfriend broke up with him. He went on a lifelong quest to comprehend female emotion.
