Foxborough officials approve curfew extension for Bon Jovi concert

Posted: Updated:

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Bon Jovi fans will be able to rock out at an upcoming Gillette Stadium concert for 45 extra minutes thanks to a ruling by the Foxborough Board of Selectmen.

The selectmen approved a measure that extends the curfew for the July 20 concert from 11:15 p.m. to midnight. The ruling only applies to the July 20 concert.

Concert organizers could face some major fines if the show goes past midnight. They face a fine of up to 5-cents per each attendee for going less than five minutes past minute. That number increases the longer the concert continues.

The stadium has a seating capacity of more than 68,000.

Organizers requested the extension after J.Geils Band was added to the show.

Speakers at the show will be dialed down at 11:50 p.m. A town official will be at the audio board during the concert to ensure that the audio levels are brought down to agreed upon audio levels. Other officials will be outside the stadium with decibel meters to make sure the audio levels have dropped.

Here is the breakdown of the fines organizers face if they go over midnight:

  • Less than 5 minutes - up to 5 cents per attendee
  • Less than 15 minutes - up to 25 cents per attendee
  • Less than 30 minutes - up to 50 cents per attendee
  • Less than 45 minutes - up to 75 cents per attendee
  • Less than 1 hour - up to $1.25 per attendee
  • Over 1 hour - up to $1.75 per attendee
