Slain East Point officer laid to rest

EAST POINT, Ga. -

Mourners gathered to remember the 35-year-old East Point police officer that was found shot to death in her south Fulton County home less than a week ago.

Friend, family and fellow law enforcement officers gathered for the funeral service of Corporal Crystal Parker at the East Point First Mallalieu United Methodist Church on Saturday.

Parker's former roommate, Danielle Parker, was arrest this week and charged with her murder. Investigators says she was shot in the head. They are not releasing the motive behind the shooting.

Cpl. Parker served with the East Point Police Department for six years. Last year, she received the distinct honor of being named officer of the year.

She was laid to rest at the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park.
