Report: Detroit grabs No. 4 spot in top hospital rankings

US News and World Report is out with its 2014 hospital rankings, and in the category of 5 Cities With Tons of Top Hospitals, Detroit comes in at No. 4.

According to the rankings released Tuesday, Detroit's top institutions are:

  • University of Michigan Hospitals and Health Centers
  • Beaumont Hospital
  • Harper University Hospital

Harper also earned high rankings in neurology, neurosurgery and pulmonology. Henry Ford Hospital and Beaumont in Troy rounded out the top 5.

New York, Chicago and Los Angeles were the only cities to finish higher than Detroit in the rankings.

Hospitals are ranked in several ways, including specialities and geography.
