Ridgewood residents concerned about tall utility poles

Posted: Updated:
NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) -

Utility poles being described as "sky scraper like" have been installed in parts of Ridgewood, New Jersey. Some residents said the poles are ugly.

But the appearance of the tree-towering, 65-foot poles isn't the biggest issue on the growing list of concerns being brought up by residents on Hope Street. Resident Alyssa Steinberger said she has concerns about safety. She said she feels like power utility giant PSEG is just using her street as an electrical highway.

The company's regional public affairs manager, David Hollenbeck, arrived Tuesday afternoon to inform residents about the details of the project and answer their questions.

Residents are also asking questions of Ridgewood's mayor, wondering why they weren't notified about the big changes to their neighborhood.

PSEG says the changes are needed to enhance the power grid from substation to substation.
