Conn. couple drowns on honeymoon

DANBURY, Conn. (AP) - A Danbury couple is being mourned after drowning during their honeymoon in Costa Rica, when powerful currents swept them off shore.

The NewsTimes reports that it was the second marriage for both Ruth Rowe and Bruce Loev, who reconnected after growing up together in New York.

The paper reports that the 51-year-old Loev and 46-year-old Rowe got married July 4, and drowned July 10 after deciding to go swimming off Quepos.

Their bodies were reportedly found about 2½ miles from where they first got into the water.

Rowe, who had two children, taught fifth grade in Pawling, N.Y. Parents remembered her as engaging and encouraging.

Loev was an aviation civil engineer who also had two children.
