An 87 year old woman has become the second heat related death in Delaware.
She died on Friday due to heat exposure, according to the Medical Examiner's Office. Her death occurred two days after a 55 year old man was found dead outside after heat exposure contributed to an underlying medical condition.
The Department of Health and Human Services issued a statement to remind everyone of the importance of remaining indoors in cool environments during the heat. It also reminds people to check on elders and those with disabilities.
There is also a 211 line for those who need immediate help cooling their homes.
Overnight look for passing clouds and a few flurries. Bundle up and watch for icy patches on roads and sidewalks. Lows in the upper teens and low 20s.
The cold stays with us for a few more days with highs around freezing.
Looks like another storm system moving in to start the weekend. This one will likely bring a mix of snow, sleet, and rain. Stay tuned.
