NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Several cats rescued from a pet hoarder now need new families to provide them with loving and caring homes, announced the ASPCA, which will be hosting two adoption events in Brooklyn on Sunday, August 4, 2013.

Fifty felines are available for adoption at the concurrent events, dubbed "Summer Lovin'" because some of the cats have been given "Greese"-inspired names including Danny, Sandy, Kenickie and Rizzo.

"By considering all aspects of this particular case, we were able to truly understand the obstacles this person was facing and how they affected his ability to care for his pets," said Allison Cardona, director of the ASPCA's Cruelty Intervention Advocacy program. "This is exactly the type of situation that the CIA program was built for -- helping animals in need by providing critical resources to the people in charge of their care. We are very excited that these resilient and lovable cats are now ready to find new homes."

The adoption fee will be waived for this event, except for kitten under eight months.

All cats will be either spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, and vaccinated. The cats will get a free follow-up veterinary exam at either the ASPCA's Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital or One Love Animal Hospital.

If you are interested in adopting a cat, you must be 21 or older and bring a government-issued photo ID, proof of address, and contact information for a personal reference.

The ASPCA has teamed with One Love Animal Hospital and Sean Casey Animal Rescue for this event, which will be held Sunday, August 4, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at One Love Animal Hospital, 8209 3rd Avenue, Bay Ridge as well as One Love Animal Hospital, 317 Atlantic Avenue, Boerum Hill.

Burger chain Five Guys is testing the adage that everything tastes better with bacon. It is rolling out a customizable milkshake program and along with bananas, peanut butter, Oreo cookies, salted caramel, you can chose bacon.  Yes that's right: a bacon milkshake.

Timothy Cardinal Dolan gathered religious and city leaders with the focus of how to ease tensions between police and the community in advance of this Saturday's march to protest the death of Eric Garner. Some of the leaders in this group are rarely photographed together, let alone seated at the same table. But they were brought together over concerns about possible protest violence by the cardinal, one of the most powerful figures in the city and who commands respect across the board.
