MILTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The Worcester County District Attorney's office confirms they have been brought in as third party investigators to probe an accident involving Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey.

The district attorney's office told FOX 25 on Saturday that they have requested Morrissey's cell phone records, as well as the black box data from his car, in their probe.

Morrissey was injured in a crash at about 6 p.m. on July 16. Investigators say he drifted across the center line on Centre Street in Milton, triggering a four-car crash. Four people were transported to the hospital.

Days after the crash, Morrissey released a statement saying he was headed home to Quincy from his office in Canton when the crash occurred. He said he made a "series of phone calls" on a hands free wireless telephone and after the last phone call he began to feel lightheaded.

"I was perspiring and felt lightheaded and the next thing I recall is being outside of my car which was stopped across two lanes of traffic," Morrissey explained. "At the time of the accident, I did not know what happened. Individuals at the scene told me my car crossed over the center line causing the accident. I have no reason to dispute that."

Investigators said there is no evidence that alcohol or distracted driving were factors in the crash.

Morrissey, who was cited by police, will appear in court on Aug. 19.
