NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Repair crews were racing against the clock Monday morning to fix a ruptured water main in Jersey City.

The break at Sip Avenue and Bergen Avenue is near the Journal Square transit hub.

The water main ruptured before the start of the Monday morning rush.

SkyFoxHD was over the scene where crews could be seen drilling into the street above to reach the 20-inch broken pipe.

United Water temporarily shut down service to the area.

Water was flowing again at about 8 a.m. to locations on Bergen Ave. between Sip St. and Academy St., said Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop via Twitter.

Kennedy Blvd., a major thoroughfare in Jersey City, was closed in both directions between Pavonia Ave. and Tonelle Ave.
