Mexican Mafia Investigation Prompts Early Morning Raids

Posted: Updated:
Montebello, CA -

As we arrived on the scene we saw officers walking handcuffed suspects into the Montebello Police Station. What took over 2 years to investigate was taking a mere matter of hours to complete. Over 40 people indicted. In the crosshairs of a pair of ATF-led investigations are the Mexican Mafia and a drug cartel.

A source close to the investigation tells me the arrests stem from a pair of federal indictments handed down against suspected high level members of the Mexican Mafia for, among other things, their alleged efforts to expand their criminal enterprise with a Mexican drug cartel.

The indictments allege federal racketeering charges, allegations of violent crime in aiding racketeering and accusations of distributing methamphetamines, heroin and cocaine as well as possession of firearms.

The sweep operation started at 4am this morning involving ATF, DEA, LA Co. Sheriffs Dept., LAPD, DA's Office, US Attorneys Office, Department of Corrections Special Services Unit and others.

A news conference is planned at the ATF offices in Glendale at 10am where firearms and drugs seized in the arrests will be displayed and the case will be further explained.

Twins brothers with a YouTube channel filled with their pranks say they weren't trying to make a joke. Serious intentions or not, a park full of parents were not amused by their latest stunt. This video is a must-see!

I met the folks from Gunnar Optiks at CES this year and they had something new to show me. The Intercepts. I have a big head, these are big frames, it was kismet but do they work as good as they look? We'll see.
