Amy Lord's family writes letter of thanks to South Boston

Posted: Updated:

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The family of murder victim Amy Lord is sharing their appreciation for the residents of South Boston just over two weeks after her death.

In a letter posted on SouthBostonOnline.com, the Lord family said the 24-year-old could "sense immediately" that there was a strong, family-like community in South Boston. They say she "loved everything" about the neighborhood and was "anxious" be a part the community.

Lord's family thanked Southie residents for showing "solidarity" with them and for embracing Amy.

Residents of South Boston and Lord's hometown of Wilbraham held memorials for the Bentley University graduate in the days following her July 23 murder. Investigators believe Lord was driven to several ATMs in Boston before being fatally stabbed and left in Stony Brook Reservation.

Edwin Alemany, 28, of Boston, has been charged in connection to Lord's death. He was sent to Bridgewater State Hospital for psychiatric evaluation after being ruled unfit to be arraigned in two other assaults on women in South Boston.
