Jefferson boy hopes Memphis hospital can help control seizures

Posted: Updated:
JEFFERSON, Ga. -

A young boy from north Georgia is hoping a trip to a Memphis hospital will help control his daily seizures.

Emery Evans looks like any other healthy 6-year-old boy, but his parents – Quea and Torey – say that the Jefferson boy has had seizures since he was 2. He now has from 15 to 20 a day. Sometimes they're silent, other times they're not.

"He has been to Scottish Rite, he has been to Egleston, he has been to local hospitals -- still no answers. Doctors don't know exactly why he's having seizures and the nature of seizures," said Quea Evans.

Emery's doctors want him to go to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, which specializes in his condition.

"It's hard having a child and knowing that it could possibly kill him," said Quea Evans.

Quea won't be able to go with her son to Memphis because she has to work and take care of their other two children.

"We are not financially able for me to go right now," she said.

What makes her feel better is knowing her son will stay at the hospital in Memphis until they find answers.

"They want to keep him until they find out what's going on with him," Quea said.

The Evans family is hoping they'll make their trip to the children's hospital in Memphis this fall. They're raising money to help for some of the expenses. If you'd like to help, email: emerytevans@yahoo.com
