State officials close Cambridge swimming pool after alleged threat

Posted: Updated:

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) - State officials closed a Cambridge swimming pool for the day after they say a patron fought with a lifeguard and threatened gun violence.

State police say they arrested 22-year-old Antwon Perkins on Thursday afternoon after he allegedly got into a physical altercation with a male lifeguard at McCrehan Pool on Rindge Avenue.
Police say Perkins, who is from Dorchester, threatened to come back to the pool and shoot two male lifeguards.
Authorities say witnesses also heard him on his cell phone while he was looking for help shooting up the area.
Police say they arrested the suspect after a brief foot chase near the Alewife MBTA station.
Authorities say Perkins is scheduled for court arraignment Friday, but didn't specify what charges he'll face.
Troopers will be guarding the facility Thursday night.
