BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Rain and road conditions are believed to have played a role in a crash that sent a beer delivery truck into a guardrail on the Leverett Connector Friday afternoon.

Investigators say a Michelob truck hauling empty cases of beer was traveling in the right lane of I-93 northbound near exit 28 when it lost control and crashed into a smaller truck in the left lane. The Michelob truck crashed into a concrete barrier on the left side of the road and came to a rest over the edge of the guardrail. The second truck hit the right side of the guardrail and came to a stop.

The driver of the beer truck, identified as 31-year-old David Lavalle, of Londonderry, N.H., and another person were able to safely get out of the truck's cab. They were not hurt. The driver of the smaller truck, 31-year-old Willie Woodley, of Roxbury, was transported to the hospital as a precaution.

The crash, which happened just after 2 p.m., snarled traffic during the afternoon commute and briefly impacted commuter rail trains at North Station. Heavy rains were in the area at the time of the crash.

Mass. State Police continue to investigate the collision.
