PORT CLYDE, Maine ( – A 9-year-boy from Cohasset was killed during a family trip in Maine.

The Portland Press Herald reports Dylan Gold was killed when an out-of-control car hit him and his family as they were waiting for a ferry in Port Clyde, Maine. His mother and 6-year-old brother were taken to a Maine hospital and are expected to survive. Dylan's father was not hurt.

The crash occurred at about 3 p.m. Sunday.

According to the newspaper, 61-year-old Cheryl Torgerson of New York City was behind the wheel. Torgerson allegedly hit another car and pinned a pedestrian against a building before hitting the Gold family.

Witnesses of the crash say the runaway car ripped through the busy streets at high speeds before hitting the little boy.

Torgerson told police she didn't know what happened. Her blood was tested after the crash, but officials told the newspaper there was no reason to believe she was impaired.

As crews work to repair the physical damage, the Gold family is left grieving their unthinkable loss.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

As of Monday night, no charges had been filed against Torgerson
