Randolph woman dies after SUV lands in condo complex pool

RANDOLPH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com/AP) – A 58-year-old Randolph woman who crashed her car through a fence into a condo complex swimming pool in Randolph has died, police said.

The crash occurred at the Castle Village Estates located at 159 Bittersweet Ln. at about 12:46 p.m.

A Good Samaritan saw the crash and pulled the victim from her car which was submerged in the pool. CPR was administered, and the victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Vito Martello of West Newbury, a visitor to the complex, tells The Patriot Ledger of Quincy he was near the pool when the car "came barreling in." Martello said he tried unsuccessfully to get the woman out of the car from the driver's side, but later helped remove her from the passenger side.

A neighbor said the woman had sold her condo and was planning to move to Florida Thursday.

Friends of the victim, who was identified as Diane Lobel, said she didn't like to drive and had a history of strokes. They believe it's possible Lobel may have had a medical emergency behind the wheel.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
