PHILADELPHIA -

Sarah Murnaghan is recovering today after Fundoplication surgery. Janet, Sarah's mom, released a new photo of Sarah on August 14. With the photo was an update:

"Sarah's receiving great care. She's mostly had a sleepy day. I am so thankful for all of the support. It finally feels like we are in the home stretch of our hospital stay. Praise God!"

On August 15th, Janet released another update saying, "Sarah is having a hard day, she is in some pain."

Sarah had her upper esophageal sphincter strengthened to fix her acid reflux. The procedure wraps the upper part of the stomach around the esophagus to strengthen the sphincter and prevent acid from entering the esophagus.
