Teen bicyclist fatally struck on Route 6 in Wellfleet

WELLFLEET, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Wellfleet teenager was killed after being struck by a car while riding his bike on Route 6 in Wellfleet Saturday.

The bicyclist, 16-year-old Miles Tibbetts, was crossing Route 6 near Cumberland Farms when he was hit by a green Honda Accord driven by 76-year-old Dorothy Herold, of Wellfleet, at about 12:37 p.m.

Tibbetts was unresponsive when emergency crews arrived. He was transported to Cape Cod Hospital and then flown to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston where he was pronounced dead.

The crash is under investigation.
