Herald: Scott Brown 'exploring' decision to run for president

Posted: Updated:

(MyFoxBoston.com) – Former U.S. Senator Scott Brown is reportedly considering a run for president.

Brown, who was in Iowa for the weekend, told The Boston Herald the White House has room for a "bi-partisan problem solver."

The news came just hours after the New York Times reported Brown, who owns a home in Rye, N.H., is considering a run for U.S. Senate in New Hampshire.

According to the Herald, Brown indicated he isn't close to deciding whether or not he will run for president.

"It's 2013, I think it's premature, but I am curious. There's a lot of good name recognition in the Dakotas and here – that's pretty good," he told the newspaper.

Brown won a special election in January 2010 to fill the seat of the late Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Edward Kennedy, but was defeated in November by Democrat Elizabeth Warren. He recently eschewed a chance to run in a special election to replace John Kerry, who left the Senate to become U.S. Secretary of State.

If Brown runs for president, he may have to take on New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who has also expressed interest in running, in a primary.
