Middleton man arraigned in hospital for alleged connection to Sunday shooting

MIDDLETON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A 24-year-old Middleton man was arraigned from his hospital bed Tuesday for his alleged connection to a shooting at his home Sunday.

Michael MacMullen was held on $10,000 bail on charges that include assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault to murder, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.

Police received several 911 calls Sunday morning about shots being fired near MacMullen's Liberty Street home.

Investigators allege MacMullen shot a fellow Red Devil Motorcycle Club member twice in the stomach following a dispute. They say the 28-year-old victim shot back, striking MacMullen in the arm.

Local police received assistance from the Mass. State Police SWAT team in responding to the chaotic scene.

If MacMullen posts bail, he must remain on 24-hour home confinement at his parents' home, wear a GPS monitoring bracelet, remain drug and alcohol free, submit to random drug screenings, surrender all firearms, stay away from and have no contact with the victim, and have no contact with any member of a motorcycle club.
