Dr. Oz Helps Save A Life In NYC

Posted: Updated:

Dr. Mehmet Oz doesn't just play a doctor on TV.  He keeps proving he's a real MD again and again.  Saturday, he was running a 5K in Utah, when a runner next to him collapsed.  Then Tuesday, he was in his office near Rockefeller Center when he hears and sees an accident down below.  He rushed to the scene to see if he could help.   The first to help was actually, Dave Justino, a plumber who had the where with all to use his utility belt to try to stop the bloodflow.  "You've got to stop the blood flow somehow.  I'm a plumber, she was leaking.  That's a terrible way to say it, but I stopped the blood."  Indeed, Dr. Oz credited "plumber Dave" as being the one who "saved her life." Dr. Oz also described how the victim, 23 year old Sian Green was talking while Dr. Oz and the rest of the first responders worked to stabilize her before she was rushed to Bellevue Hospital.  Dr. Oz appeared on our sister station, WNYW to talk about the ordeal.   http://www.myfoxny.com/video?clipId=9218757&autostart=true

More than one person documented the scene and posted photos and video on social media.  Here's a link to a Mega Sugianto's video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RD6lQhVOcgw  Coincidentally, she's a California girl, in New York to attend the Asian American Journalists Association convention and participate in its program AAJA Voices.  She told me that she actually saw the cab jump the curb.

@BraddJaffy got a flood of requests from media outlets to use his twit pix.  https://twitter.com/BraddJaffy  You can see the good Dr. Oz in a number of the photos.
