WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

Police say an Oakland County woman was driving drunk when her vehicle ran over three pedestrians Tuesday morning in Washington Township.

Watch Maurielle Lue's full video report above.

Lt. John Michalke says Andrea Gutierrez, 21, was driving her white Jeep Liberty eastbound on Brookside Lane around 7:19 a.m. when she struck a husband and wife, ages 59 and 61, along with a 77-year-old man. Gutierrez told police she had trouble seeing due to the bright sunshine and thought she struck trash cans.

The victims where transported to a local hospital for serious injuries, Michalke says.

Upon further investigation, police determined Gutierrez was under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested and breathalyzer results showed her blood-alcohol level at .12 percent, well above the state's legal limit.

Gutierrez was charged with operating while intoxicated, her second such offense, and operating while intoxicated causing serious injury.

She posted a $10,000 bond and was released.
