BROCKTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – The man who was fatally stabbed at 117 Bellevue Avenue in Brockton Wednesday has been identified as 44-year-old Brockton resident Jeffrey Cicerano, the Plymouth County District Attorney announced.
Authorities responded to the home at about 11 a.m. and found Cicerano on the floor suffering from apparent stab wounds. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 12:45 p.m.
Police have arrested 37-year-old Alfred Giannini in connection with the fatal stabbing.
A witness who was also present and involved in the altercation between Cicerano and Giannini told police Giannini stabbed the victim inside the home and then fled following a brief struggle. The witness called for help and waited for the ambulance to arrive.
According to police, Giannini then broke into a nearby relative's home and stole jewelry, as well as a car. Authorities located the car in Abington where Giannini engaged them in a chase before crashing the stolen car at a construction site. He then fled into a wooded area where he was confronted and shot by police.
Giannini was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He is in critical, but stable condition. An arraignment date has not yet been set.
The incident remains under investigation.
