PEMBROKE, N.H. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Donations collected to help a woman battling brain cancer were stolen during a break-in at a day spa in Pembroke, N.H. Friday night.
Serendipity Day Spa announced the burglary on their website this weekend. They say their spa was broken into Friday night and several things were taken, including donations for the Kick Jaime's Tumor Fundraiser which was scheduled to be held Sept. 8.
Jaime Taylor-Harper, a massage therapist at the spa, was diagnosed with a Stage IV brain tumor in March. After the discovery, her coworkers pulled together and began collecting items to be auctioned off at the September fundraiser.
However, Saturday they arrived only to be devastated by the news of the alleged burglary.
"At a time when our friends and family are pulling together to stay positive for someone we love, we ask that everyone remains positive," reads the spa's web site.
The spa is asking anyone who previously donated to the fundraiser to contact them so they can figure out which items were stolen as their list of donated items was also stolen.
The owner of the spa estimates the value of the stolen items to be between $6,000 and $10,000.
Taylor-Harper is currently receiving treatment at a Boston hospital.
Police say a suspect has not been identified, but evidence was left at the scene.
Anyone who would like to donate to the fundraiser can contact firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, phone number, and payment information.
