Police: Fake water workers targeting the elderly in Roseville

Posted: Updated:
ROSEVILLE, Mich. (WJBK) -

"If they came here, they'd know it. I have double barrel shotgun... sawed off," says Joe Jerzewski of Roseville.

Joe is among the many neighbors concerned about the fake water worker who scammed his way into someone's house on Thursday.

Joe says "I'm 82 years old but I don't take no shit from nobody."

But his 80-year-old neighbor on Cole Street wasn't so lucky. A fake water worker wormed his way into the man's home, telling him he needed to check his water pressure.  Then he closed him in the bathroom while another man may have ransacked the bedroom.

There was an altercation between the neighbor the fake water workers which ended up with the suspect running away from the house.

The suspect is described as a tan guy in his mid 30's,  5'6" and about 180 pounds. He took off in a dark colored, full size van.

Roseville police say they haven't had a case like this in quite a while , but they want you to know someone is out there preying on people and possibly targeting the elderly.

Anyone with information please call Roseville Police at (586) 775-2100.

The case was originally about workplace discrimination. Now it's dragged on for more than a decade despite the case appearing to be one that the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation can't win.
