Threat of showers, thunderstorms continues into Tuesday afternoon

Posted: Updated:

A FLOOD WATCH continues into the evening with a few downpours still possible. I think the flood threat is minimal, but some roads could be temporarily flooded if a heavy shower comes through. The flooding in Rhode Island was mainly due to the Pawtuxet River rising and flooding rapidly Monday afternoon - that will crest and subside tonight. The ground is saturated just about everywhere, so any heavy rain shower can bring some minor flooding.

There will not be a lot of rain overnight, but some showers to our west can still hold together and come through.

This is all ahead of a cold front that still has to come through tomorrow. The threat of showers and thunderstorms will have to continue into Tuesday afternoon. It seems most activity will be done before game time at Fenway Tuesday evening. Dry air moving in behind the front gives hope for a nice Wednesday. Another front is right behind that day of high pressure, so more storms are likely Thursday.
