Maynard police search for officer impersonator

Posted: Updated:

MAYNARD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Maynard police are searching for an officer impersonator.

At 12:45 a.m. on Aug. 22, police said a 26-year-old woman, who only wanted to be identified as April, was pulled over on Great Road by a man impersonating a police officer.

April told FOX 25 she was traveling west on Route 117 and noticed a vehicle following her for several miles. The car then activated a blue flashing light near the Maynard and Stow town line. She stopped thinking it was a police officer; however, April says she immediately knew something was not right about the man.

Police said the suspect approached the woman and ordered her to exit the vehicle.

April said she was suspicious, drove away, and immediately called Stow police. Maynard and Stow officers responded to the area, but were unable to find the suspect.

April, who is also a young mother, said the suspect drove off in the opposite direction.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 40s with short brown hair, facial acne scaring, and a feminine voice. He is over 6 feet tall and weighs about 225 pounds.

Police said the vehicle is a dark-colored large sedan similar to a police cruiser with a single blue strobe light on the dashboard. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Seeley at the Maynard Police Department.

Authorities are reminding residents that police officers in unmarked police cruisers will identify themselves immediately when making motor vehicle stops.
